How to proceed to upgrade from SDL Studio 2014 to Studio 2015?

Good morning! I need some advice before upgrading from SDL Freelance Studio 2014 to 2015. Once downloaded, do we need to activate the 2015 license since it's only an upgrade? Do we use the 2014 activation license code then or we need to request for one? Does the upgrade delete any existing project or files and/or any customized apps like "Web Lookup". Thanks for your feedback. Any tip is welcome!

    But in a nutshell, yes you do. It's a different licensing mechanism and you need to return your 2014 license in your account to generate your new 2015 license and then activate 2015 with the new code.

    Make sure you don't deactivate the 2014 license on your computer though if you wish to run them in parallel for a little while until you are comfortable with 2015.  Once you deactivate 2014 you won't be able to activate it again.

    Thank you for your answer. I do understand now that I not only need to download and install the upgrade but also have to "return" the 2014 license to actually activate the 2015 one. How long does that take? Will I get an activation code the same day? Will I be charged for it? Would I be able to keep working in the meantime? Since the 2014 license won't be deactivated on my computer, does that mean I will have another icon to access Studio 2015?

    Hi Elise,

    As I said. You DO NOT need to return your 2014 license from your computer. Do not deactivate it in Studio, and this way it will continue to work until you change computers or attempt an uninstall/reinstall.

    The only place you have to return your license is in your account. This will process your upgrade and give you the new 2015 license immediately. You can then install and activate the 2015 version.

    Now you should have 2014 and 2015 working together.
