Trados 2024 crashing

I have installed trados 2024 trial, I managed to create some GroupShare projects but it seems to be quite unstable because it often crashes during the project creation wizard. No errors appear, it just suddenly closes.

I often need to restart the project creation, leading me to close it and use the 2022 version to work fine.

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more details such as the exact steps you take before the crash occurs, any recent changes to your system, and the operating system you are using. Also, it would be helpful to know if you have tried any troubleshooting steps already.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with Trados Studio 2024. Based on your description, it seems like the software crashes during the project creation process. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

Step 1: Ensure that your system is up-to-date. Install any pending Windows updates to ensure system compatibility.

Step 2: Repair your Trados Studio installation. You can do this by following the guide 'Repairing your installation of Trados Studio'.

Step 3: Verify that .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later is installed on your system. Trados Studio 2024 requires .NET Framework 4.8 or later.

Step 4: Refresh your .NET Framework installation by toggling the .NET 4.5 (or higher) feature off and on.

Step 5: Check for corrupted Translation Memory (TM) by disabling TMs one by one to identify if a specific TM is causing the crash.

Step 6: Similarly, check for corrupted Termbase by disabling termbases one by one.

Step 7: Store translation resources locally instead of on shared drives or cloud services to avoid access issues.

Step 8: If the issue persists, reset Trados Studio to default settings.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider rolling back to a previous version of Trados Studio as a last resort, keeping in mind it may affect compatibility with current projects.

Do you get any error messages?  Can you share the full stack?

Try a full reset and reinstall.

    Clean install... try the following.

    1. Uninstall Studio
    2. Uninstall MultiTerm

Now manually delete these folders if they are still there (back up your TMs, Termbases, AutoSuggest Dictionaries and Projects first in case you make a mistake):

    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\Trados\TradosStudio2024\
    c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\Trados\MultiTermDesktop2024\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio18\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm18\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\18\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio18\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm18\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\18\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio18\
    c:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\MultiTerm\MultiTerm18\
    c:\Users\%username%\Documents\Studio 2024\Project Templates\
    c:\Users\%username%\Documents\Studio 2024\Projects\projects.xml

I think that's about it for a clean install. Then reinstall.
