Unable to open Studio 2022 after Windows 11 update and unable to deactivate my license offline (April 2025)

Hi,

I am unable to open Trados Studio anymore since the last Windows Cumulative Update (Update Windows 11 -24H2 (KB5055523). When I click on Trados icon to open it, I see the first window (see screenshot) for 3-4 seconds and then it disappears and Studio doesn't open. No error message at all (see the screenshot below - that is the farter I can go. The image disappears and Studio won't open.

Trados Studio 2022 SR2 startup screen displaying version 17.2.12.19268 and message 'Loading application modules...' on a Windows 11 desktop background.

I spent 2 hours with a Microsoft technician today who finally told me there is a compatibility issue between Trados Studio and Windows 11 (after the update has been installed). He also told me this update CANNOT be uninstalled, so I can't use Studio until a patch is issued... He also told me he would advise the developers of that issue.

At this point, my last option is to uninstall Trados and reinstall it, hoping it can fix the problem. However, when I try to deactivate my license offline on RWS webpage (so I can reactivate it after reinstalling the program), I get an error message on RWS webpage: "An error has occurred with your offline-deactivation. If you continue to have problems, please Please log a support request."

At this point, I am totally trapped! My clients are waiting for their documents and I can't work... I am miserable.

Here are the some details about technical specifications:

Behavior:

When I click on Trados icon to open it, I see the first window (see screenshot) for 3-4 seconds and then it disappears and Studio doesn't open. No error message at all.

Actions taken (by myself and then with the Microsoft technician):

- All the "standard" troubleshooting tips (rename the usual files to old_etc...
- Ran scannow

- Ran the DISM Commands

- Reset Trados Studio to Default State
   Rename Configuration Folders:

Navigate to the following folders on your machine:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\17
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\17
Rename these folders (e.g., Trados Studio_old).
Restart Trados Studio: Restart Trados Studio to allow it to recreate the default configuration files

- Check the Microsoft .NET Framework version:
Not clear to me everything is okay as it looks like some features are off (see screenshot). Let me know if I have to fix something here).

Windows Features dialog box with '.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)' partially checked and other items listed.

At this point, I really need help as I feel totally out of resources.

Please don't suggest me to play in the registry: I am a translator, not a computer geek!

Your help will would be appreciated,

Helene
