Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about your operating system and any recent changes made to your system or software that might have affected the installation.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with Trados Studio 2017 not opening. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

    **Step 1: Repair Installation**

    1. Close all RWS applications.

    2. Open the Control Panel:

      - For Windows 7: Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

      - For Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at the bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.

      - For Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features.

    3. Select Trados Studio 2017 from the list, right-click, and choose "Uninstall/Change" > "Repair."

    4. Restart Trados Studio and see if it opens.

    **Step 2: Reset Basic Settings**

If the repair does not work, you can reset the basic settings:

    1. Close all RWS applications.

    2. Navigate to the following folder:

      `C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0`

    3. Rename the folder `14.0.0.0` to `14.0.0.0_old`.

    4. Restart Trados Studio.

    **Step 3: Delete License Information**

If you are still having issues, you may need to delete the license information:

    1. Close Trados Studio.

    2. Go to `C:\Program Data\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5\Data`.

    3. Rename the file `Studio.lic` to `Studio_old.lic`.

    4. Try to activate your license again.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be necessary to contact RWS Support for further assistance, especially since you mentioned that they helped you previously via remote access.
