Not sure if my deactivation was successful

Hello,

I have had a problem with my PC and could not return the Trados Studio license before it went for repairs. During repairs everything was wiped out and new Windows 11 was installed, so now my PC appears online as a new machine. I downloaded Trados Studio 2022 and activated the extra license I had on my account.

However, I also wanted to deactivate the one from the old machine (before repairs), because obviously I can never use it on it again and I wanted to have the extra license spare for my laptop (in cases of emergency).

So I used the advice from this thread: Help with deactivation of RWS Trados on a computer that is not working - great thanks here to the poster and the person who answered.

I used "Reset license" and I think it was successful as my activation performed in year 2022 disappeared from my account. Now I have one license in use and one extra, like before. Because I am actually only using one on my PC now.

The reason why I am not sure if everything is correct is that when I checked "Deactivate license" it shows a message that for this license I am using now the deactivation is initiated. I also received an e-mail about it.

Could you kindly confirm if the license I am using is valid and will not be deactivated? I want to use it on my "new machine" after repairs.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Elzbieta

  • Hi Elzbieta,

Only the user would know approximately the dates when the license has been activated and compare that to the dates in the RWS account. We can only see what you see when you go on the Reset license, which is the last registered dates for the activation of the licenses.

Generally, when you have a Plus licence and you need to reset the activations, and you are not sure which one is the correct one, just go for the one closest to when you recall you activated it on the computer. The most recent activation you did was on 13-06-2025.

From what I can see in your account, one activation is free so that can be used on a second device, and one is in use and the activation date is the one above, 13-06-2025.

If You go in Trados - click on Help - Product Activation and an active license looks like this:

Trados Studio 2022 SR2 Product Activation window showing Perpetual License tab with Trados Studio 2022 Professional license active. Options include Show activation code and Deactivate Offline.

    I hope this helps.

Please let me know if you have other questions.

    Kind regards,

    Anca

  • Hi Anca,

Thank you for answering my question in detail. I think I reset the correct activation, because it was the one from year 2022. The one you can see now 13-06-2025 is the most recent one which I am actually using.

I was just a bit surprised when I saw "Deactivation initiated" in "Deactivate license" section of this license.

But the most reassuring part of your answer is that when I opened Help- Product Activation in Trados, I saw the same information as the one you kindly showed in the screenshot.

Once again, thank you for your advice and that it came so quickly:)

    Have a nice evening,

    Elzbieta
