Trados Studio 2024 not launching anymore

After using Trados Studio 2024 for a while without problems, it did not start this afternoon. The loading screen appeard, loading plugins and so on ... but then it closed.

I tried repairing, installed the application from scratch, plus deleting some advised files, restarting, run it from administrator ... but still the same.

I was working with Studio this morning, then on a MemoQ server and this evening Studio didn't start ... should that have anything to do with it?

Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact error message or any logs that appear when Trados Studio fails to launch, as this can help in diagnosing the issue more effectively.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with Trados Studio 2024 not launching. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

**Step 1:** Close all RWS applications completely.

**Step 2:** Check for any pending Windows updates. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and select "Check for updates." Install any updates found and restart your computer.

**Step 3:** Repair your Trados Studio installation. To do this, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, find Trados Studio 2024, right-click on it, and select "Repair."

**Step 4:** Ensure that you have the .NET Framework 4.8 installed, as it is required for Trados Studio 2024. You can check this by going to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.

**Step 5:** Refresh your .NET Framework installation. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off, unchecking the .NET Framework option, restarting your computer, and then rechecking it.

**Step 6:** Check for any corrupted Translation Memories (TMs) or Termbases. Disable them one by one in Project Settings to see if the issue persists. If you identify a corrupted TM or Termbase, you may need to recreate it.

**Step 7:** If you have any third-party plugins installed, consider renaming the Plugins folder located at `C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Plugins` to `Plugins_old` to disable them temporarily.

**Step 8:** If the issue continues, try running Trados Studio as an administrator by right-clicking on its icon and selecting "Run as administrator."

**Step 9:** If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider reinstalling Trados Studio as a last resort.

If you still encounter problems after trying these steps, please provide any error messages or logs that appear when you attempt to launch Trados Studio, as this information can be very helpful in diagnosing the issue further.

  • Via a remote session we managed to solve the issue by resetting the plugins folder from the Trados Studio installation folder. We have re-installed the plugins that you had and Studio still opened correctly.
