Trados Studio 2021 Freelance - License Reset Limit Exceeded After Computer Rename (Error 210150)

Dear RWS Support,

I need help with my SDL Trados Studio 2021 - 16.2.10.9305 perpetual license that suddenly stopped working.

TIMELINE:

  • End of July 2025: Windows reinstalled on the same physical computer. Successfully deactivated and reactivated license via RWS portal → worked fine for 2 months
  • Sept 30, 2025: Trados working normally
  • Oct 1, 2025: Trados suddenly shows "License expired" and won't start

WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY (Oct 1):

Attempt 1:

  • Tried to reactivate → Error 210150: "Lock code is invalid"
  • Deactivated license in portal, waited 5 minutes (didn't realize I needed to wait 30 minutes)
  • Reactivated → same Error 210150

Attempt 2:

  • Thought the problem was not waiting long enough
  • Deactivated license again, waited full 30 minutes
  • Reactivated → still Error 210150 (so waiting time wasn't the issue)

Attempt 3:

  • Found on RWS forums that Error 210150 can be caused by special characters in computer name
  • Computer was named using "ö"
  • Renamed computer to use "oe" instead
  • Restarted computer
  • Tried to deactivate license → "You have exceeded the 3 reset limitation in 12 months" - now blocked from any further resets

CURRENT STATUS:

  • License portal shows: "In Use: 1, Available: 0, Activated: 01-10-2025"
  • But Trados application displays "License expired" and refuses to start
  • License appears activated on server but won't activate in the application

WHAT I NEED: Manual reset of the 12-month limitation counter so I can deactivate and reactivate the license with the corrected computer name (without special characters).

Thank you for any guidance!
