Requesting advice on proper installation of Trados Studio 2024, after repeated attempts/failures, described below in detail

After repeatedly installing, uninstalling, and reinstalling Studio 2024, and not getting it to work properly, I decided to try a “fresh” installation by completely removing all traces of Trados from my system. I deactivated my license, uninstalled all Trados Studio and Multiterm version (2019, 2021, and 2024). Before doing so, I made sure to save my old Studio 2019 to an external hard drive.

I deleted the Studio 2019, 2021, and 2024 folders from File Explorer. I deleted the SDL and Trados folders from the Roaming subfolder and the Local subfolder of the AppData folder. I also deleted the SDL and Trados folders from the Program Files, Program Files (x86), and ProgramData folders.

I then deleted all subkeys named SDL or Trados from HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software , HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software , and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node in the Registry Editor. I search the Registry Editor and deleted all keys with “sdl,” “rws,” or “trados,” being extremely careful not to delete anything else.

After reinstalling Studio 2024 (and reactivating the license) I tried to load a “new” project as a test. To do this, I used a project package I had received from RWS for a job I completed earlier this year. I used the Open Package in the Home menu of the Projects view. It seemed to open properly. I could open and edit the file in the Edit view. (Please see Screenshot 1 in the attached Screenshots file.)

However, I noticed that there was no subfolder for this new project in the Projects subfolder of the Studio 2024 folder in File Explorer. (Please see Screenshot 2.)

Instead, I found that the project had been saved in a subfolder (2025148JAEN_TRADOS) of a Projects subfolder of a Studio 2019 folder in an additional “Documents” folder appearing my Users folder on the C: drive. (Please see Screenshot 3.)

I tried deleting this additional “Documents” folder from the Users folder, and went through the whole uninstallation, folder deletion, and registry cleaning process described again. However, when I reinstalled of Studio 2024 once more, the additional “Documents” folder, containing a Studio 2019 folder, was recreated in the Users folder on the C: drive again as shown in Screenshot 3.

At this point, I have run out of ideas. I urgently need to get my Trados software running properly. Any advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
