Question about activating Trados Studio license on a second device

Hi everyone,

I’m new to Trados Studio and to this community, so I hope this is the right place to ask. I recently purchased a Trados Studio subscription, and everything works fine on my main laptop. However, I’m trying to figure out the correct way to use my license on a second device (a desktop PC I use in my home office).

I’ve checked the documentation but I’m still a bit confused about what is allowed under the subscription model:

  1. Can a single-user subscription be activated on more than one device, as long as I’m only using one at a time?

  2. If yes, do I need to deactivate the license manually each time I switch devices?

  3. If I reinstall Windows or change hardware later, will that affect the activation count?

I want to make sure I’m following the licensing terms correctly, and I’d rather set things up the right way from the start.

    Hi  

    We would need an order number so we know exactly the type of subscription you bought. We could not find anything in our system under your name or e-mail.

    To answer your questions for a Trados Freelance subscription:

    1. No, you need to log out from one device to be able to log in into the other. Simultaneous activation is not possible. However, you could use the desktop version on one PC and the cloud one on the other PC. Differences between the two versions as highlighted in the table at this link, down the page www.trados.com/.../

    2. No, you just log in and out. Or if you are using the cloud version, you remove the active devices from settings.

    3. There is no activation count. As written previously, you just log out in the event you change Windows/hardware/PC and then log in again once you are ready to resume working with Trados.
