Inability to deactivate Trados Studio 2017 Freelance on a laptop

Question

I need to deactivate Trados Studio 2017 Freelance on my old laptop and activate it offline on my new one. I can't deactivate it; I get an error message saying: Request interrupted: Unable to create a secure SSL/TLS channel. This may not be the exact wording, as it is a translation from Czech. I cannot deactivate it online because I did not register the product. I work as a freelance translator and received this Trados Studio licence from a client I worked with years ago. I only have the installation key.

 Please try to deactivate offline your license following these steps How to deactivate your Trados Studio perpetual license offline , and let me know if you encounter any issues.

 You mentioned you got the license from a client, the activation key. I am sorry, but unless you have access to the RWS account where the license is, the license cannot be deactivated/activated offline or reset. 
 It's the owner of the RWS account and of the license who can perform those actions from inside the account.
