Currently we have Passolo 2011 and the licensing toolkit 1.4 in use. We upgraded our licenses to SDL Passolo 2015. Can we use the existing "SDL Licensing Server Toolkit 1.4", or do we have to update to "SDL Licensing Server Toolkit 1.7"? Or do we have to install the "SDL License Server Manager"?

In the customer account in which you see your license, you should also see the download fro the License Server. It looks like this:
If you click on the link "SDL Licensing Help" you'll find all the explanations you need.
The installer should have installed two or even three programs, as you can see here:
The only one you need to launch is the "SDL License Server Manager". It is a very simple and intuitive program, which will ask you to enter the activation code and the number of seats you want to activate (allwoing you for example to split the seats of a network license among two different license servers). Once you have done this, it will automatically configure the "SafeNet License Manager" accordingly.
You don't need to run the two other tools at all.
However, once you are in production, the "SafeNet License Manager" may be useful because it allows you to see which clients are logged on and use one of the licenses in the pool.

After installation of the SDL License Server Manager, I only have two executables installed:
The funny thing is, if I launch SDL License Server Manager, not the expected simple program starts, but the wlmadmin tool. Something is completely wrong here. FYI: We installed it on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine.

Please make sure you installed the latest version (SDLLicenseServerManager1_244.exe).

You can download the installer here.
Uninstall the current one before you run the installer.

I've uninstalled the 'old' version (which I downloaded yesterday from the official SDL Download page), and installed SDLLicenseServerManager1_244.exe.
After that three executables were displayed in the programs menu, as you wrote above. So we came one step further which is good.
But when I launch SDL License Server Manager, the program starts but nothing can be seen on the screen. The task manager shows that this process has been started:

The next problem is, that the activation code is not valid. We bought licenses for Passolo, but it seems that the key depicts a Trados Studio license.
Has anybody experienced the same issue?
