Trados and Mac

Hi everybody,  I just got Trados Studio.  I have a MAC.  I downloaded VMware as a virtual machine in order to install Trados.  But everytime I try to download Trados it goes straight to my MAC instead to my new Windows app.

  • Hi Mytyl,

I'm not a MAC user, but perhaps I cxould just clarify the steps that seem logical to me if I was doing this for the first time.

    1. Install the VMWare client
    2. Add your Windows image to the VMWare client
    3. Start windows and go through any set up requirements for the first time
    4. Download Studio from a browser in the windows environment and save to the desktop
    5. Unzip and install Studio

Is this what you tried already?

    Regards

When you download the installation file for Studio, you are prompted to choose where you want to store the file, so it is up to you to decide in which folder you store it. If you stored it in the standard download folder of the Mac because you downloaded it with Safari (in MacOS), then you simply need to either copy the file to a folder that you can see inside your VMWare Fusion virtual machine or share this folder in the settings of your VM.

Fusion gives you the possibility to share folders between MacOS and the VM, so that they can be accessed from both places. You can configure this in your VM settings.

On the other hand, you could also use a browser inside your Windows VM to download the file.
