licensing problem Trados 2015 +

I want to license Trados 2015, but it does not appear in my account, i.e. there is no licensing code, does anyone know what to do?

  • Hello Elke,

Did you upgrade or purchase a new license? If you upgraded then you need to process the order first by returning your old license in your account and generating the new one for 2015.

Don't return your old license from the product unless you are happy to lose the use of your old version now? It is possible to run the old and new together for a while so you have time to get used to the new version and also transfer all your old resources over.

    Regards

  • Thanks for this, Paul. Did I get this right: I have to deactivate Studio 2011, okay, but what happens then, will the Studio 2015 appear automatically in the list with its activation code?
  • Hello Elke,

Here's the canned response that'll take you through the process.

    =============================================================================

When upgrading your current (freelance) license(s) to SDL Studio 2015 FL (PLUS)-

-SDL will allow you to continue working on current projects in the legacy (Studio 2009/2011/2014) versions- before migrating to Studio 2015 permanently.

To facilitate this- simply upgrade your license(s) via your SDL account only (as shown below)-but DO NOT deactivate/return your current Studio license from within the software!!!

     UPGRADE PROCESS

    1. Log in to your SDL Account
    2. Click on ‘LICENSES’
    3. Locate and click on the banner at the top of the page ‘Upgrades Available…….’
    4. Process the upgrade…
    5. Download/Install and activate (using the new 2015 license code)

You will now be able to continue using both your legacy version and the new Studio 2015 software until you either deactivate (intentionally or through hardware failure etc.) or try to move the legacy versions (Studio 2009/2011/2014) to a different machine etc.

The image below is indicative of the general upgrade process and not specifically to your personal licence version.

    Hopefully that will help.

    Regards

    Paul
