Activation problem with Trados 2017

Question

I purchased Trados Studio 2017 and was able to download and install it. According to the e-mail instructions I should be able to use Studio 2015 and 2017 on the same computer (as it is the Freelance version). But this does not work. I was not able to activate Studio 2017 at all. 
 I then decided to deactivate my Studio 2015 version, but even though the program shows "deactivated", my account still shows "license in use" and no free license keys. 
 The offline deactivation is not working either and I am still unable to activate Studio 2017. So I am left with NO Trados Studio at all, as I know cannot activate my Studio 2015 either. 
 Has someone any idea as to what I am supposed to do? I paid good money for this program and am now unable to use either Studio 2015 as I cannot acitvate it, and 2017 only in trial version even though I purchased it! 
 Very disappointing!!

Hello Angela, 
 
Did you purchase a new licence or did you upgrade? 
 
If you purchased a new licence then you should have been given a new licence for 2017 in addition to the one you have for 2015 and you can install and activate them both. 
 
If you upgraded then you have to return your 2015 licence online (DO NOT RETURN IT FROM THE PRODUCT IF YOU WISH TO CONTINUE USING 2015 FOR A WHILE) in order to generate the 2017 licence. Once you have done this you will lose the ability to activate 2015 again (which is why you should not return it from the product) as you now only own 2017. 
 
Most importantly they are different activation codes. 
 
Can you confirm what you have done?
