Error Message: An error occurred whilst parsing the xml

Hello All,

I encountered an error a few days ago and could not resolve it. I've attached screenshots of the error message, and the file location on File Explorer.

I have Trados Studio 2022 on Windows 10 Platform and Microsoft 365. I encountered an issue a few days ago where the error message reads: An error occurred whilst parsing the xml. Please check whether the file at C:\Users|Noha\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm15\WidgetSettings.xml is well formed. Since hexadecimal value 0x00, is an invalid character. Line 1, position1.

I'd appreciate your kind help in solving the a/m error, taking into account that I can access the file (WidgetSettings.xml) in the File Explorer on Windows, but I cannot access it on Notepad.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Thank you very much for your prompt response, and please accept my sincere apologies for this late feedback.

I could not resolve the said message error in Trados 2022.

However, having a licence for Trados 2024, I installed and licenced Trados 2024 successfully, but is currently facing another problem with upgrading the TM. I exported the TM in Trados 2022 and saved the TM files as TMX files. When I tried to import the TM files in Trados 2024, I found that the Import button reads sdltm files only.

I followed the instructions of the procedures in this link <Upgrading legacy file-based TMs from Upgrade wizard>, but received another error message (Attached) after installing the two Add-Ins (Trados Compatibility and Migration Power Pack and TM Optimizer)Screenshot of Trados Studio software with an error dialog box stating 'Could not load type 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.Common.Licensing.LicenseUtils' from assembly 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.Common, Version=18.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c28cdb264c54a...' with options for Knowledge Base and Community.

I've been working on this issue all day, with no avail and would highly appreciate your kind help.

Thank you very much and best regards,

    Noha
