Templates are not imported in Studio 2024

Hello together,

yesterday we installed the new Trados 2024.

Today we see that when creating a project our templates are not taken.

This means that we insert the desired template when creating the project. However, only the default template is used.

There is also no option to import the corresponding settings files.
We urgently need help here.

Thank you.

Templates are never imported with a new version. It is highly recommended to recreate these, because of changes under the hood, mainly in file types. However, if you really need to import your templates, you can do that:

    • Go to File (Datei) -> Setup -> Project templates
    • Use the "Import" button there to import the templates as desired
    • After having imported the templates, click each one and select "Edit"
    • Go to "File types" and use the reset button there to reset the file types to default
    • This way the templates should work properly even in TS2024, however I only checked this for templates imported from Trados Studio 2022
    • Older templates may cause real problems, so better recreate these

Recreating a template is not that hard:

    • Create a new project based on a default template
    • Adapt all settings as needed
    • When the project is created, select "Create a new template based on this project"
    • Or in the Projects view select the command "Create project template" from the ribbon; this will create a template based on currently active project
