Is it possible to add strings to a target file by Scan target file/alignment although this string doesn't exist in the source file?

Hi,

We have an English source XML file which needs to be translated to Polish. There are also strings containing keyboard labels. The challenge is, that for the Polish keyboard there need to be extra strings, i.e. one key has several entries. See screenshot enclosed.

Usually, we have been adding those lines to the target file but we would like to standardise/automate this workflow.

Is there any way to do this in Passolo?

BR,

  • The Scan Target file (Alignment) function reads data ID based from translated files; any additional entries there are always discarded because there is no corresponding entry in the project.

There are special parsers in Passolo (e.g. for Android resources) which, in connection with plural cases, allow the number of entries imported to be smaller than the number of text entries in the target language.

However, such an option must already be known when the source file is imported into the project, as translators should also be able to enter the additional entries. Such a functionality can therefore only be implemented as customization for a special parser.

A simpler solution would be to have the additional entries already in the source file, but only filled in by the translators in certain languages.
