The Grammar Checker Plugin in Studio shows no descriptive errors, the text reads "The target segment contains a grammar error", and when clicking the error it says that there are no more errors in the segment.

Hi Thilo Pawelka
I just tested it to try and verify this before responding. It did work for me in Studio 2019 but was very slow and this was just a small file. I unchecked the option to not report the full grammar description and then it was a bit faster. But I think this is a bit of a problematic app because of the lack of a proper API from Microsoft for this. It's been incredibly hard to troubleshoot and despite setting up different language environments, different versions of office and different operating systems we have hardly ever been able to reliably reprodice issues.
An interesting thing I just noticed is that the test file I had from years ago which includes the grammar errors that Microsoft reported at the time are no longer reported by Microsoft and it only picked up one error. When I ran it in Studio I had exactly the same thing, only one error reported.
So to be honest I don't really know what to expect from this! Maybe it was because I used the wrong variant of English... who knows!

Just a couple of hours ago Paul made me aware of this tool:
LanguageTool Plugin
Have you tried it? It grammar-checks in Studio 2017 well. Partway through installation, you select Studio 2017 and it is then added to the list of verification tools in Project settings and File > Options. It has various settings that you can fine-tune.
All the best,
Alison
Hi Alison Field ,
thank you for your answer! I already tested the LanguageTool plugin, but wasn't really happy about how you have to set it up (downloading the tool and establishing a server connection).
The biggest problem I see with this plugin is that the data is sent to LanguaeTool using an embedded http/https server. I don't think this would comply with our customers' privacy rules.
Edit: Or maybe I don't get this whole server thing right: Do you know if the data is sent to an external website or if it stays local?
