Glossary Converter installation error: "Could not find Excel or Open Office. Spreadsheet formats are not available."

Question

Hello all, 
 I've recently purchased SDL Trados Studio 2017 and downloaded Glossary Convert today. During installation, I got the above error message. When I click OK, Glossary Converter is open, but when I try to drag an Excel file on top of Glossary Converter, its green border turns red. 
 I have Office 2013.

I'd try a repair installation, or download the app and install it again. It looks as though something has not registered properly. 
 
 Gerhard Kordmann may have a better idea.

I found a workaround that I wanted to share with other users. This is from user xoi100dong in the Proz forums: < www.proz.com/.../306419-multiterm_2014_conversion_option_could_not_be_initialised_properly_trouble.html> . I saved my two-column Excel file as a Unicode file, and was able to drag-and-drop the .txt file into Glossary Converter. I had to set the field type as language, then select the actual language for each column. This produces the desired termbase file.
