Post-edit Compare error [The path is not of a legal form]

Question

Dear fellow Studio users/developers, 
 Please help us out on the error we are having using Post-edit Compare. The plugin throws 2 types of errors: 
 1. The path is not of a legal form; 
 2. The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\pc777\AppData\Roaming\PostEdit.Compare\PostEdit.Compare.Report.xml_48c4c16c-3a06-463e-957a-0e2f6b8ebe91.xml' because it is being used by another process; 
 We have tried wiping the C:\Users\pc777\AppData\Roaming\PostEdit.Compare folder, reinstalling the plugin, installing it on a different machine or different version of Trados and it still throws this exception. 
 Platforms tested: 
 Windows 10 Studio 2015 SR3 
 Windows 10 Studio 2017 SR1

Are you using a MAC and sharing locations by any chance? Or maybe you are storing the versions on a separate drive?

Yes, I meant Apple Macintosh. The message points to inadequate permissions so I wondered whether this might be a problem with shared folders perhaps. But maybe it's related to your windows security software? Try turning off your antivirus or whatever security software you are running and see if this helps? If it does then you need to provide some exceptions for Studio and it's apps folders.
