TTX file wordcount in SDL TRADOS 17

Question

Hi! 
 I open a ttx file with SDL TRADOS 17, and I want to do the word count. I have created a TM, however I don&rsquo;t have anything translated in the TM.

I went to file, clicked on the file to count, clicked on Batch tasks, but I can&rsquo;t see the word count options there.

This is what I see in the Report menu

How can I count the words in this ttx file?

Hi Silvia Gentili , 
 Don't worry, you just need to select the Target language in the Files view, in the Files pane on the left hand side but clicking on the dropdown arrow you see highlighted here: 
 
 Once you've changed from the Source to the Target language, the file/s you will see under the Name list will be the Target files. When you right-click on the file you want to run a wordcount on, you will see you can select the longer list of batch tasks. Most of the batch tasks are performed on the target files rather than the source.

In addition to the sound advice from Ali, if you have just opened the TTX as a single file project then press Ctrl+S before looking at the batch tasks as this will create the single file project in the background and activate the features you want. 
 
Alternatively, if you just want an easy way to get an analysis try the SDL Analyse Tool from the appstore, that may save you a lot of time and you can run an analysis without even having Studio running.
