SDL TMS Commute plugin

Hello,

We tested the Commute plugin back in July 2017 and provided the following feedback.

As I am not sure whether or not the developers received it, please find it below :)

File downloading works fine, but the Master Project is created by default in the last folder used in Studio to create a "classic" MP.

Workaround: it is possible to change the location of the project via the Project settings – however, the package downloaded through the plugin stays in the original (incorrect) folder instead of being moved at the same time as the rest of the Master Project.

It is not possible to have the same TMS address several times with different ID/passwords, to have access to different clients (otherwise Studio asks if the previous configuration should be deleted).

Workaround: toggling between the different TMS accounts on the same TMS address by clicking "Edit" on the TMS in the list + entering the ID+password for the other client – this works rather fast.

We identify 3 important issues:

    • If the project in TMS contains multiple files, it is impossible to download all files at once to create one MP only. By downloading the files one by one, Studio creates one MP per file instead of consolidating all files in the same MP.
    • The plugin does not allow to download source or reference files – this makes the plugin almost useless as it is, since we still need to connect to the TMS platform to retrieve those documents.
    • Uploading the files back to TMS is extremely slow, so much that it proved impossible to deliver files through the plugin at this point. This means that files would still need to be delivered manually.

Items to improve before this plug-in can be used effectively:

  1. Allowing Studio to ask where to save the MP upon download.
  2. Allowing the user to retrieve source/reference files from the plugin.
  3. Forcing Studio to create one MP per TMS project instead of one MP by task – in the current configuration, the plugin is only suitable for projects with one file only and no references, so not realistically useful.
  4. Improving global performance – to be able to deliver directly files from within Studio.
  5. Allowing configuration of one TMS address with multiple ID/passwords to access all TMS within Studio.

Please let me know if you need any more information.

Kind regards,

Anne-Laure
