No, it is not normal for SDL Commute to clear the connections when Studio 2017 is closed. I don't know exactly why this is happening to you. I just tried on my machine and the connections are NOT deleted when I close Studio. Did you tried to reinstall the SDL Commute? If this is still happening we well need to add a bug in our backlog and see if we can reproduce it.
