How to install SDL Trados 2014 TXML plug in

I have downloaded Sdl.Community.FileType.TXML_1.sdlplugin from the SDL AppStore for SDL Trados 2014. Copied it to c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11\Plugins\Packages\ then started Studio 2014. When I go File - Option, I don't see Wordfast TXML in File Type and there is no indication of "Additional installed file type exists." Referring to another thread, I copied the plugin to c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11\Plugins\Packages\ with the same result. Double clicking the plugin gives me a prompt "How do you want to open this file?" searching for the installer wizard (that does not seem to be installed in my computer). Can anybody help with how to install this plugin?

  • Hi ,

If you only have Studio 2014 then I don't think the plugin installer is included as this was developed later. But here's what I think you should do. First of all remove anything related to TXML in these locations:

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11\Plugins\Packages\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11\Plugins\Unpacked\

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11\Plugins\Packages\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11\Plugins\Unpacked\

    c:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11\Plugins\Packages\
    c:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11\Plugins\Unpacked\

Then just copy the plugin into this folder and restart Studio.

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11\Plugins\Packages\

    Regards

  • Dear Paul,
Thank you for your prompt reply. I followed your instruction, but the result was the same. Before the operation you described, there were only the plugin I copied in the ...Packages folders in both ...Local... and ...Remote... paths and nothing (empty) in ...Unpacked folders in both paths. In ProgramData path, there was no TXML related entries (only entry was related to a different plugin I had installed long time ago). Is there anything else I should check? My Trados Studio version is 2014 SP2 - 11.2.4435.12
