Google Translate not working through WebLookup

I had been using the Web Lookup app with Studio 2015-17 and was accessing Google Translate with no problem for hints occasionally, but now it seems to be locked out of the app. Is this for licensing reasons? All the other MT apps seem to work fine.

  • Hello  ,

I have tested this (Studio 2017) and cannot replicate the problem-

Trados Studio interface showing the Web Lookup plugin with a Google search for 'documentation' and a dictionary result displayed.

As well as the normal search, I am also able to use Google translate from within the Web Lookup plugin.

Trados Studio interface with the Google Translate plugin activated, showing the translation of 'Dokumentation' to 'documentation'.

If you are using Google translate from within your actual project settings-

Trados Studio settings window for adding a new Google Translate API key, with an information icon indicating where to enter the key.

You will need to ensure your API key is up to date.

If you still cannot get the App to run, please remove the App and reinstall.

  • Thanks for the response, Steven. Sometimes it works fine, and others, like today, it brings up the IE mask and says "not available" or something. It "feels" like it wants to give priority to MS and related products (Bing, which I dislike for some reason). It's not critical, but I am puzzled why things that worked fine once, don't work now. I don't use it through the project settings, no, just as a free-standing app.
