Amazon Translate Plugin - Error "Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed."

Question

Hi, I created an account at Amazon and installed everything according the wiki article here: 
 https://community.sdl.com/product-groups/translationproductivity/w/customer-experience/3315.amazon-translate-mt-provider 
 I can't get the plugin to work. I get the message "Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed."

You should also make sure that you have the region code correct. I put the wrong one in the first time I tried this and had an almost similar error. The problem is that I used one that was listed in AWS but apparently AWS discontinued. So it doesn't look as though this is kept up to date. Try a couple of others.

Which method did you use, locally or Access key? It's certainly not the most intuitive process and not very "Amazon" but it works once you get everything just right.

 So DeepL is still reigning supreme for some language pairs! 
 Unknown said: The good thing with Amazon is that it has the option of configuring a find/replace XML file, wich is very usefull if you cannot use an adaptive TM. Is there a way to get this option with the DeepL plugin, too? 
 It would be possible of course, and we have the source code for it. But would need to be planned in and undertaken. Probably good to log this as an idea and if you get a lot of support for it we can do it timeously... otherwise we have a lot of other things to spend time on at the moment so we won't get to this for a while. Or, you can engage a developer to do this for you as the source code is all opensource.

I decided to give it one last go and used eu-west-1 as the region code, and now it works, so no need to get back to me. 
 
Is there somewhere we can put this up for other prospective Amazon MT users? It is very unobvious, and it will save people a lot of time trying to figure this out.
