Studio doesn't recognize JSON when creating alignment project

Question

Hi, 
 
 We are trying to align 2 JSON files in SDL Studio 2017. 
 When aligning single file pair, Studio presents empty segments. However, if I preview the JSON in Studio, then I see the content.

We have 2 different filetypes in Studio, the builtin (JSON v 1.0.0.0) and from the SDL Appstore (JSON file type 1.8.0.0) 
 I tried checking only 1 filetype each time, but still the same problem. 
 
 Do you know what could be the problem?

 I have tried to replicate the issue and run a few test files- 
 
 and preview option 
 
 but have been unsuccessful. 
 Normally if the file type is not checked the preview shouldn't work- but I think this is worth first of all checking 
 
 If everything is ok and the file type is active- could you possibly send me the JSON files to test please (swhale@sadl.com)
