Due to recent updates in Studio 2019 and the use of updated open XML formats, we are trying to assess the need/demand for creating a brand-new version of the app based on the updated open XML format. The currently available app will only work with older versions of Studio.

Maybe the 'Export for Bilingual Review' which is already integrated in Studio 2019 (as a batch task) is the solution you are looking for.

Hi Steven, thanks for your reply, the reason why we are using the Converter is that the Export for Bilingual Review in Studio does not work for us on the files we're exchanging in Microsoft Teams with our reviewers. I've got a ticket logged for this. So the Converter is a very useful tool for us.

Who have you got your ticket logged with for this? Apparently it doesn't fall within the Studio support team's remit anymore...

I am also trying to use converter as I have numerous files/projects to generate for.

i have a ticket with the SDL support team to fix the Bilingual Review built in Studio but i have not made any progress there either. I am escalating this as the SDL Community is pretty irresponsive. 
Out of curiosity, do you have issues with the Bilingual Review

Our SDL Community can be very busy at times and you will normally get a quick response (from the wider SDL Community) to any questions you post- especially when these are 'How to...' type questions.

However, if as is the case here, its an app that doesn't work or you believe Studio is malfunctioning then you need to talk to the right SDL department.

To ensure that the community is responsive, its essential that you 'tag' whoever you are replying to- so they receive an email notification- otherwise your replies often get lost in the volume. 

To do this- 

So that others who may be experiencing similar issues with the bilingual review - I will share what our support team believe is happening and the workaround they have advised.

The issue appears to be related to a third party application within Teams/Sharepoint- but the cause is as yet unknown until your IT department can do some more investigations.

The suggested workaround-

Would be to zip the files and send these via email.

Hi , thanks for your reply. I've raised the issue about the Bilingual Review with the SDL support and I'm working towards resolving it.

In the meantime, I still have the issue with the SDLXLIFF converter not working with the latest version of SDL Studio installed. SDL support told me to reach out to the SDL Community for this one.

I find that it works better if one uses the surname rather than the first name - unless it's a very unusual first name of course...

so...

rather than...

because once you type the space after the first name, the search is discontinued...

We are trying to assess whether the demand for creating a new version is warranted as most of the functionality is built into Studio.

So far I think i have only seen a bout two requests for  version compatible with latest Studio releases.

What I have also found, is you can type the whole name without space-

, it seems to me that the SDLXLIFF is more powerful than the Bilingual review functionality as it worked on our files until we installed Studio latest version. I have seen more than 2 requests here about issues with the Converter app. I'm hoping to resolve the issue with the Bilingual review soon but the Converter app was a good tool to use until it suddenly failed. I'm just wondering what else will be breaking next time we update Studio.
