I'm not sure I understand your question since RAT is a plugin. It's available here:

Pretty, pretty please?
The lack of this feature in Studio 2017 is driving me not only crazy, but also back into the arms of your competitors ...
Not a great argument... we spend time to add a feature into a non-supported version of our product!

I know, it was more tongue-in-cheek. I'm happy for all users of 2019 and 2021 that you've added the feature, and I know you have other stuff to do than adding features to 2017. I also know how much effort you regularly put into helping users with requests on the forum and elsewhere, from which I have profited in the past. So please don' I think I'm being ungrateful. I appreciate everything you do.
But from my perspective the fact remains - I can either spend money on an upgrade to Studio 2021 that I don't need (I'm happy with 2017 otherwise) or use a competitor's product that I already own and that has this very basic and essential feature. Which will decrease the likelihood that I will ever buy the upgrade to Studio 2021.
So you spending time on a non-supported version would increase the likelihood that I buy the currently-supported version.
I guess the real question (again, from a user's perspective) is whether it's really necessary to put out a new product every two years.

Well... in order to deliver the long list of things we have to add, mostly stemming from customer requests, and to be able to support new operating systems, updated filetypes based on updated software used by our users etc. then yes! The sensible thing, in my opinion, for any user who relies on the software for their living is to purchase a support & maintenance contract. This way you get the upgrades automatically as part of that cost and will never have the problem of being left working with a version of the product that we don't support anymore.
