MT Enhanced plugin failure

The plugin works perfectly with Google, but not with Microsoft. I have to reenter my credentials that I have renewed (thinking it would solve the problem).

It is a strange behavior since there is no problem with Google.

Here is the message I getfrom Trados Studio.

I am running Trados Studio 2021 latest version as weel as the last version of the plugin.

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Eleana

  • Hello Steven,

Thank you very much for your reply.

the problem persists and it's somehow annoying since it works for a few moments and then it stops.

I went to the folder you indicated but it is empty.

Please see the the screen capture.

    Best regards,

    Eleana G.

  • Hello ,

Please open Studio and remove the MT Provider from the project(s).

Now go to the App Store integration in Studio- installed plugins and remove MT Enhanced.

Next locate to the following folders (packages and unpacked) and check there is no MT Enhanced- if there is - please delete.-

Now go to Help- Check for Updates (if there are none - please let us know which version of Studio you are running (About Studio).

You can now reinstall MT Enhanced and then add back in to the project.

Also please make sure that Studio (and MultTerm) are added to your AntiVirus exceptions list

    Does this help?

  • Thank you Steve, I am following your instructions but I guess something is missing in your explanation:

"Next locate to the following folders (packages and unpacked) and check there is no MT Enhanced- if there is - please delete."

What are those files you are talking about and where do I find them?

When I deleted MT Enhanced (following your instructions which I have already done before thanks to Paul Filkin) and then opened Studio, I received a message saying that Studio could not delete the plugin.

    I am running SDL Trados Studio 2021 SR1 - 16.1.4.4184 (Freelance version).

As for my computer protection, I am using Windows Antivirus, but I don't know exactly how to add an exception. I did a quick search through the Web but could not find anything straightforward to follow. Would you kindly explain how to add Studio (and Multiterm) to that.

Thank you so much for your help.

    Best regards,

    Eleana

  • Hello ,

If you cant find the folders mentioned, this will be because Windows hides them by default-

When you go to File Explorer and View- Simply check the box Hidden Items

You should ensure Studio is closed when deleting Plugins

Here are the instructions on adding Studio (and MultiTerm) to the exclusion list-

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

The folders that should be added are -

    • C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16
    • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp
    • C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL
    • C:\ProgramData\SDL
    • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\SDL
    • C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\SDL

  • Thank you very much !

I am aware that Windows hide some files. :-)

I did not see your screen capture at first with the files to delete. Probably because my navigator's window was too small.

Thank you very much for the link explaining how to add exceptions (I have added the files you pointed out).

For deleting plugins, I did it through the App Store inside Studio, clicking on the "Uninstall" button.

I then deleted the files as suggested with Studio closed and again I still get the incomplete uninstalling message (see screen capture).

When I opened Studio, that took a while to open, the window was very small. It did not opened it is usual size.

Another weird thing is that now SDL Language Cloud is not working... I cannot connect to it. (It seems to be OK now, probably not related to the problem with MT Enhanced).

There are days where like this... when computers and softwares decide to annoy you!

I am running Windows 10 at it latest version (19042.867)

I have just tried to translate a few segments. MT Enhanced with Microsoft worked for two or three segments and then stopped.

I am getting the usual error message ("An error occurred while using the translation provider MT Enhanced using Microsoft Translator. The request is not authorized because credentials are missing or invalid").

I have verified my credentials and it makes no sense because it works for two or three segments and then stops.

MT Enhanced with Google works perfectly well.

SDL Language Cloud works perfectly well now.

The SDLMTEnhanced folder in C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\SDL Community\MT Enhanced is still empty!!

    Any thoughts?

Thank you for your help so far.

    Best,

    Eleana

  • Hello Steven,

Hope that this email finds you well.

Do you have any idea of what is happening with MT Enhanced using Microsoft? I still get the same error message, and it works perfectly well with Google.

Do you have a contact with Microsoft ? is there a way to reach them?

Again, thank you for your help.

    Best regards,

    Eleana
