Just wanted to add some more information...

I'd used studioViews to split a large InDesign file. Because I wanted to avoid the issue with the missing spaces between sentences, I decided to import the translations from the Editor view this time. I was able to import the first file without any problems. When importing the second file, however, studioViews told me it couldn't import the translations due to segmentation differences and asked if it was OK to close the file to continue importing the translations. It then proceeded to import the translations using the studioViews window from the Files view.

After generating the final .idml file, the spaces between sentences were still there in the first part of my InDesign file (the part imported from the Editor view), but they were missing in the second part of the file (imported using studioViews from the Files view).  

Interestingly, this issue also happens sometimes in Studio itself.

I merged 2 segments in an exported studioViews file and there was no space between the two sentences in my merged segment in Studio. I did not have this issue when I merged the same two segments in the original file...
