Antidote Verifier plugin won't launch

Hello,

I've seen several posts on this issue, some of them dating back to a few years ago, but I'm having the exact same problem today.

I have a new laptop with Windows 11.  My version is Studio 2019 SR2 build 15.2.8.3007. The plugin does appear in the Review tab but nothing happens when I click on it. I tried all the fixes suggested on the different existing posts (deleting the files in the plugin folders, etc.) and I do have administrator privileges.

Everything works perfectly fine on my other computer, the only difference being that it runs on Windows 10 and that I have the paying version of Antidote for Word, etc.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much in advance,

Sabine

  • I don't really know what to suggest.  I tested Antidote 11 this week with the latest plugins for Trados Studio 2021 and 2022 and it's working as expected in both versions.  The only difference for me would be that I'm not using W11 and also don't have the ability to test in that environment either.

Can you also clarify this statement?

the only difference being that it runs on Windows 10 and that I have the paying version of Antidote for Word, etc.

Does this mean you don't have a licenced version of Antidote running on your W11 machine?

I have not tested 2019 for some time and we have not updated the plugin for that version either so that could also be part of the problem in addition to the use of W11.  If nobody else can verify that this isn't working in you environment, or that it is, then we can try to make some time to look at this once we complete the current workload for 2022.

  • Hi and

I ran some tests with the Antidote plugin on a PC with Windows 11 and Antidote 11 and the plugin works fine. So, the problem is not related to Windows 11.

As a way to get it running, I suggest that you close Studio and then delete any existing occurrence of the plugin in these two folders:
    c:\Users\Walter\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15\Plugins\Packages\
    c:\Users\Walter\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15\Plugins\Unpacked\

Then reinstall the plugin you downloaded from the AppStore. Make sure you use version 1.4.0.0.

Also note that you need an installed and licensed version of Antidote (v 10 or 11) on your PC.

    What did you mean by

that I have the paying version of Antidote for Word, etc

There is no "Antidote for Word". The software is called "Antidote" and integrates with different applications, such as Excel, Outlook and others, including Studio, if you use the plugin.

  • Hello Paul and Walter,

Thank you both very much for your answer. I feel a bit silly: I didn't realize I needed an installed and licensed version of Antidote on my PC, I thought the plugin itself was enough.

Now that I downloaded it, it's working of course :)

Hopefully this will help more people who forgot like me to download the software first!

    Thank you again,

    Sabine
