Trados Studio Batch Rename is missing from the RWS Appstore

Hello

I cannot find this app anymore: Trados Studio Batch Rename in the store. I know there is a new app "Trados Studio Target Renamer", but this app has a little problem: there is no option to tell the app to leave the orginal file. This is very important if you work with Groupshare. If the file is checked in, a batch task normally checks out the file, runs the batch task and then checks the file back in. Because Trados Studio Target Renamer" renames the original file instead of creating a new file with the language codes at the and, it generates an error, because it cannot find the file to check in anymore. In "Trados Batch Rename" you have the option to tell the app to keep the original file. Therefore, there is no error when at the end of the task Studio tries to check back in the (unchanged named) file.

It would be great to have this app again in the app store (it was there just a couple of days before).

Thanks,

Angelo

  • Hi Lydia, now I understand, I did not know that the apps in the private AppStore are only those developed by you.

The app Trados Studio Batch Rename was developed by Ziad Cham, whom I met in Zurich last week.

I thought that the new app would replace the old one, because I could not find it anymore on the AppStore. Now I know why. Ziad is an extern consultant.

But maybe it would be possible to add in Trados Studio Target Renamer the option to leave the original file as it is and create a new file with the language codes ending instead of renaming it. In this case, there wolud be no error if after renaming the app GroupShare tries to check-in back the file.

    Thank you for your support

    Kind regards,

    Angelo
