I can reproduce an error, not the same one as yours, but still a problem with splitting files.  We'll investigate it and come back to you.

In the meantime I would recommend you use studioViews intead of Split/Merge.  It does everything Split/Merge can do plus some, and it's more reliable.  I know you may like the fact Split/Merge can be run outside of Studio but it is pretty old and has always had complications which only got worse as the sdlxlff evolved over the years.

studioViews was developed using the recent APIs and takes a more robust approach to splitting files in addition to offering far more options for splitting and creating parts of your project to send out.

do you have still somewhere the studioViews version for Studio 2019? The ones that are available here RWS AppStore Plugin are not compatible with my programme.

There has never been a version for 2019.  Check the change logs... the earliest entry says this:
