Multilingual Excel File Type

Hi,

I hope someone in the Community can help me with this.

I have the Multiingual Excel file type app installed in my Studio 2022.

I now have an Excel file with the following setting:

Column E: Englisch source

Column G: German (contains some translations)

Column I: French (contains some translations)

Column K: Italian (empty so far)

Column M: Chinese (empty so far)

When I prepare now the file in Studio, everything works fine, except the translations in columns G and I (German and French) are not imported, the whole column is empty.

I have not checked the "Exclude Import" check box for this language, both have the parameter False. So in my assumption, existing text in those columens should be imported.

Does anyone have an idea why this is not working as I have thought?

Thanks,

Johannes

But maybe this is a hint for the developers of that data type to include the import right away.

I'm 100% sure we know this already!  Read this again!

The difference here is that we have used the APIs to create a filetype that is not supported out of the box.  We did this twice in fact, once for Excel and once for XML.  Using the APIs has some limitations as we don't have access to everything that a Trados Studio developer would have access to via the core product (a developer would understand this... tell me if you want more of an explanation).  So to work around this we had to use an import task after the project was completed to bring all the content in.
