Apps and Plugins cannot be updated in the AppStore after Trados Studio 2022 SR1 update

After having updated Trados Studio 2022 with SR1, the options "Update All" ("Alle aktualisieren") in the Trados AppStore does not work.

Does this seriously mean that we have to manually deinstall and reinstall all Apps and Plugins in the AppStore, that we wish to continue using?

Looking forward to your reply

If you review the release notes with SR1 you will see there were some fairly major breaking changes that affect the use of the APIs and as a result we have 2 versions for all the apps that are affected.

    For example:
    Reports Viewer Plus

And if you click on the change logs, we did what we could to ensure users have an improved UX by preventing pre SR1 versions being utilised in SR1, knowing there are breaking changes that will cause nothing but further frustration and endless errors. So in summary yes we do ask for users to upgrade their app versions that is supported and compatible with the Trados Studio version they are reliant on.

We updated pre SR1 versions weeks ago so you should have hopefully already be best placed to to reinstall SR1 versions accordingly.
But in all of this, the notifications informing you of new versions and the prompt to upgrade should all be working as expected. Whereas you are implying

he options "Update All" ("Alle aktualisieren") in the Trados AppStore does not work.

Which apps are you reliant on?
Can you send a screen print of your integrated AppStore in SR1
Are you pointing to the RWS AppStore and not some private instance?

Is there anything preventing you from downloading your apps again from the integrated AppStore?

Looking forward to your feedback and helping you further

  • Dear Lydia,

thanks a lot for your quick reply.
    1) The following green option "Alle aktualisieren" marked red is not clickable.

I maintain quite a lot of Plugins. If I have to manually delete, search and reinstall them one by one I will be busy all day long...

    2) I refer to the private RWS Appstore because as far as I know, the public one has never been completely put in order:

You should NOT use the private appstore anymore. Please use only the integrated AppStore. And indeed, the best option would be removing all plugins and installing them all again. This is not so much work as it seems. Close Studio, delete the two subfolders here C:\Users\YOur_username\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\17\Plugins. Then start Studio and install all plugins you need from the appstore. You do not need to restart Studio each time, restarting it once after all plugins are installed is enough.

  • thanks for your clear reply, Jerzy.
This is bad news... I will try my best, but I guess I will be finished with this task, when you are ready to run the next update, requiring me to redo everything again... It feels a bit disencouraging... Please feel free to foward this feedback to the developer and marketing teams.
    Thanks, Raissa Kaben

I presume now that you are on the RWS AppStore, the notifications and updates are working as expected.
I think most forgot the reasons why we had to enable the Private AppStore in the first place, which at the time was a temporary solution

RWS AppStore is the correct one
