Questions related to the risk of sharing the Microsoft Translator API key with MT Enhanced plugin.

Hi,

Our security team has raised the risk of the MS Translator API key being shared and manually applied to the MT Enhanced plugin by multiple users in the organization.

1. Do you have any idea if we can add the key permanently to the registry in the silent installation of the plugin download package via the software center? or in which location the XML file is stored after the license key is added to the MT Enhanced plugin? We manage the license key this way with other softwares in the download package.

2. Also, please let us know if you have any information that MT Enhanced can be integrated in any way with CyberArk, Identity and Access Management system, as another way to solve this problem.

3. Is there any roadmap to introduce Azure Vault functionality in MT Enhanced plugin in the near future to mitigate security risks?

Currently using Trados Studio 2021 SR2 and compatible MT Enhanced v5.4.1.1 in production.

Thanks,

Rajan

Is there any roadmap to introduce Azure Vault functionality in MT Enhanced plugin in the near future to mitigate security risks?

I believe you should already be aware that there is no roadmap for this plugin.  We have stopped supporting it and have continued to add more features and support in the separate plugins here:

    https://appstore.rws.com/Plugin/179

    https://appstore.rws.com/Plugin/174

We also have no plans to introduce Azure Vault functionality into any of our plugins.  However, do opensource them so you should feel free to do this yourselves.  We'd be happy entertain any pull requests if you did this and if you wanted it to be something available to a wider supply chain rather than just release it for your own use.

Currently using Trados Studio 2021 SR2 and compatible MT Enhanced v5.4.1.1 in production.

I also believe you have access to Trados Studio 2022 so it would be worth considering where you spend your time now.  If you pursue a roadmap of your own with MT Enhanced then it will be entirely on your own.  If you move to 2022 and the above mentioned plugins we would be happy to discuss your ideas for improving the plugin even if we don't wish to tackle them all ourselves.  At least we can offer some guidance to your developers.
