Bug in Segment Status Switcher

Hi, there is a bug in this app: if by chance one locked segment is selected and you try to switch segment status, Studio (2022 as well 2024) crashes with the error "Cannot change status of a locked segment".

It would be great if you can fix this, as now it is possible to switch the status of several segments at one time (at the beginning it was not possibile) and it can occur, that one selects one locked segment.

Thanks, Angelo

I totally understand what you mean by

if by chance one locked segment is selected and you try to switch segment status

However I do get the "Error" but it does not crash

Error dialog box from RWS AppStore Applications with a red cross icon, stating 'Cannot change locked segments.' with 'OK' button, 'Knowledge Base' and 'Community' links at the bottom.

Once you get the error what is your next step that may be different to mine, so that I can try pin point the crash.
As there are no logs for this app, perhaps you can take a look at Studio's logs:
    File - View log file

Looking forward to getting this one fully understood

  • Hi

I don't do anything. Studio simply crashes and I get this error, then I click OK and reopen Studio. Next time it happens I will post the error and the studio logs.

    Kind regards,

    Angelo

  •  no not yet but your item is still with us for further investigation.
If you have a sample file perhaps I can try again as this is my simple test

Screenshot of a software interface with an error dialog box titled 'Error' with the message 'Cannot change locked segments.' and an 'OK' button. The background shows a translation tool with text in German.

  • Hi @Lydia, I could give you all my projects, because it happens with every one of them.

I will deliberately provoke a crash and send you logs and stack trace and the project that genereted the error.

Please do not forget, that I always work with GS projects (checked out locally).

    Kind regards,

    Angelo

  • Hi

Today I had this problem again. I tried to switch some segments and some where locked. This time, in addition to the error (attached) I got another error from Microsoft .NET Framework. Unfortunatley Clipboard functionality is not working anymore and I have to restart my computer. So I could not copy paste the details. But this is the image (could not enlarge it either):

Error dialog from Microsoft .NET Framework stating 'Unhandled exception has occurred in a component in your application.' with a red cross icon, offering a 'Continue' button and a 'Details' dropdown.

    Kind regards,

    Angelo
