Alternative LLMs in ‘Trados Copilot - AI Assistant’ (Claude, Gemini and Llama)?

The AI Assistant app is very promising and I am enjoying using it.

It currently supports OpenAI and AzureOpenAI. Are there any plans to support other LLMs, such as Claude, Gemini and Llama?

I currently use a paid version of poe.com, which allows me to chat with multiple LLMs at once, which has proven extremely useful when researching terminology.

I also use multiple LLMs for translation inside of GT4T, which is equally useful.

Screenshot of a user's feedback on the AI Assistant app, mentioning support for OpenAI and AzureOpenAI, and querying about support for other LLMs like Claude, Gemini, and Llama.

Also, inside Trados Studio 2024, there is an app called:

Trados Copilot - AI Assistant

In the RWS App store, it is called:

OpenAI provider for Trados’ (appstore.rws.com/.../249)

There is also an app called:

Trados Copilot - Smart Review’ (appstore.rws.com/.../213)

Can someone from Trados ( ) please make sense of all these different names? Is Trados Copilot the more general, umbrella concept? Shouldn't ‘OpenAI provider for Trados’ on the app store be called ‘Trados Copilot - AI Assistant’?

  •  yes we have plans to support other LLM's like Gemini but your poe.com does sound interesting, I will take a look.

OpenAI provider for Trados is the actual LLM services for Azure and OpenAI, as you mentioned.
it supports the initial Translation Results Window and Batch tasks.

Where as Trados Copilot - AI Assistant supports the interactive usage of your LLM Provider. This separation will become more clear once we have more LLM providers  Slight smile

Trados Copilot - Smart Review - documentation is here

So in summary Trados Copilot reflects ways in which AI is being used (general) where as OpenAI provider for Trados would be the actual LLM's.

No doubt other will give a more detailed reply if needed

  • Cool, thanks for the info! I look forward to new LLMs being added. Definitely have a look at poe.com as it might give you guys some ideas regarding implementing some kind of facility to switch between different LLMs on the fly, which can be super-useful.

  • Hello

when will you release the Gemini / Anthropic Models in your LLM plugins?
    2025 or 2026

is it so hard to integrate it in OpenAI plugin?

is it so hard to integrate it in OpenAI plugin?

They will never be integrated into the OpenAI plugin.  They will be separate providers in their own right.  But when they are done is a good question...maybe never... at least not by us.  But any developer could do them.  We have several dozen MT providers these days, many on the appstore and many not offered publicly at all.  All created by developers using the APIs.  LLMs are no different.

Why don't you do them?  Perhaps then you'll be able to answer your own question!

  • I would also really like to see support for more LLMs in Studio. Currently the GWDG provides our access to many LLMs. As they state the API is openapi compataible I thought I could add the endpoint and API key into AI professional companion but that didn't seem to work, maybe because the URL is limited to openai and azure URLs? I was wondering if it could work if a completition endpoint is available and syntax is similar, maybe I'm missing the point that every LLM has a different syntax, but I don't know.  It would be very interesting for a lot of universities who want to work with AI. Here is the documentation:

    https://docs.hpc.gwdg.de/services/saia/index.html -

The API service is compatible with the OpenAI API standard. We provide the following endpoints:

    • /chat/completions
    • /completions
    • /embeddings
