I have the same question/problem as Diana had a few months ago:
I have Trados Studio 2022 SR2 - 17.2.11.19134 and installed the IATE real-time terminology plugin today, version 4.2.0.2.
When I try to look up a word, right-clicking on a term and selecting ‘Search IATE (all)’ or ‘Search IATE (source and target only), I get the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error message.
Can anyone help?

Thank you for pointing this out.
I raised an internal case for this (SDLCOM-6123) so the development team can investigate.
In the meantime and as a workaround, please enable first the "IATE Search Results" window from the View tab. Once you have the IATE search panel in Editor, you can select the text and activate the search from the context menu.
