Unable to install SDL Trados Studio 2015 SR-3

Dear Sirs,

After not having used Trados for a few years I decided to install it on my new desktop. For this, I resetted my old licence and downloaded SDL Trados Studio 2015 SR-3, which was the most updated version available for me. Short after trying to install it, I got the following message:

Error message during software setup stating 'Setup has detected that the file C:UsersAdminAppDataLocalTempVSD9B09.tmpVCRedist2005SP1-KB2538242vcredist_x86.exe has changed since it was initially published. Click OK to retry the download, or Cancel to exit setup.' with OK and Megse (Cancel) buttons.

After clicking Ok I got the same message again and again. And with cancelling (the other button) the whole installation process has been cancelled.

What is the problem here?

I've got a help from Sorin Perta and I did everything recommended by them, however I couldn't install:

  • o2003PIA.msi (depends on your Office version)
  • o2007PIA.msi (depends on your Office version)

The system required to install before installing them the corresponding Office version (2003 and 2007) but I have Office 365. Is it maybe a problem?

  1. Check that all the prerequisites are available on your computer and install any missing components:
NOTE: Open the Dependencies folder. By default this folder is available in: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\Dependencies
    • Prerequisites for Studio 2015 / MultiTerm 2015:
      • 2008_SP1_vcredist_x86.exe
      • 2010_vcredist_x86.exe
      • 2013_vcredist_x86.exe
      • o2003PIA.msi (depends on your Office version)
      • o2007PIA.msi (depends on your Office version)
      • OpenXMLSDKV25.msi
      • Microsoft WSE 2.0 SP3 Runtime.msi
  2. Install the main components of Studio/MultiTerm:
    • All separate installes are available in the Modules folder:
      • SDL Trados Studio 2015 (or higher): C:ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\SDLTradosStudio2015\modules:
        • TranslationStudio4.msi
        • WorldServerComponents.msi
        • TradosCompatibility2.msi

      • SDL MultiTerm 2015 (or higher): C:ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\SDLMultiTerm2015\modules:
        • MTConvert12.msi (SDL MultiTerm Convert)
        • MTCore12.msi(SDL MultiTerm Core Components)
        • MTStudio12.msi (SDL MultiTerm Desktop)
        • MTWidget12.msi (SDL MultiTerm Widget)
        • MTWordIntegration12.msi (SDL MultiTerm Word integration)

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi , wow Trados Studio 2015 :-) yeah I can see the Interop Assemlies being a problem. They typically apply if you’re using Word integration features in older Office versions, let's say Office 2003/2007. Since you have Office 365, those older PIAs usually are not required.

You could skip installing o2003PIA.msi / o2007PIA.msi if you’re not working with older Office features or if you’re only on Office 365;  If you do need Word integration, you may need the newer Office PIAs installed for Office 2016 or later. Microsoft offers separate downloads for these (e.g., search for “Office 2016 Primary Interop Assemblies”).

seeing as you have problems installing from the msi; another thing that I'd check is to make sure you’ve got .NET Framework 3.5 (including 2.0 and 3.0) enabled in Windows Features (Control Panel > Programs > “Turn Windows features on or off”). Studio 2015 may rely on older .NET libraries that aren’t always enabled on newer Windows installations by default.

Other than that... I'll say a prayer for you :-); good luck with it.
