DeepL API invalid key V2

Hello.

I currently have Trados 2024 18.02.3255 installed on a Windows 10 pc.  The Deepl's V1 API  Plugin works fine, but I would like to use V2 to see if could provide better quality translations:

DeepL Translation Provider settings window showing an error message: 'Authorization failed. Please supply a valid API Key.' The API Version is set to 'V2 (DeepL Pro API subscription)'.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the DeepL plugin (from the appstore), as well as generating a new API key, but nothing has worked.  I've read that V2 isn't for CAT tools like Trados, but I've also read that some users managed to use it.

Can you help?

Thanks!

Herman.

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide any error messages you are receiving when trying to use the DeepL V2 API with Trados Studio. Also, specify if you have a DeepL Pro Advanced or Ultimate subscription, as this is necessary for using the V2 API.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Herman,

It seems like you've already taken some good steps to troubleshoot this issue. However, there are a few more things you can try:

Step 1: Confirm your DeepL subscription. The DeepL API V2 requires a DeepL Pro Advanced or Ultimate subscription. If you don't have one of these, you won't be able to use the V2 API.

Step 2: Check your API key. Make sure you're using the correct API key for the V2 API. The keys for V1 and V2 are different, so you'll need to generate a new key for V2.

Step 3: Update your plugin. Ensure you have the latest version of the DeepL plugin installed. You can check for updates within the application or visit the RWS AppStore.

Step 4: Reinstall the plugin. If you're still having issues, try uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin again. Sometimes, this can resolve any issues that might have occurred during the initial installation.

Step 5: Check for Trados Studio updates. Make sure your Trados Studio is up-to-date. You can check for updates within the application.

If you've tried all these steps and are still having issues, it's possible that there might be a compatibility issue between the DeepL V2 API and Trados Studio. While some users have reported being able to use the V2 API with Trados Studio, it's not officially supported and your experience may vary.

  • I'm using DeepL Pro Ultimate, and Trados Studio 2024.  All updates have been carried out, and the DeepL plugin was uninstalled and reinstalled.  Tried several new keys, but still no luck.  Can you please provide a key which will work for the V2 api version please.

Question improvement suggestion: Please provide details about any error messages you are encountering when using the DeepL API key, as well as the specific steps you have taken to troubleshoot the issue.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

To resolve the issue with your DeepL Pro Ultimate API key not working in Trados Studio 2024, please follow these steps:

**Step 1:** Ensure that you have the latest version of the DeepL plugin installed. You can do this by going to the RWS AppStore within Trados Studio and checking for updates.

**Step 2:** Verify that your DeepL Pro Ultimate subscription is active and that you have the correct API key. You can find your API key by logging into your DeepL account and checking the account settings under the Authentication Key section.

**Step 3:** If you have already tried several keys, ensure that you are using the correct key for the V2 API version. Sometimes, keys can be version-specific, so double-check that you are using the right one.

**Step 4:** If the problem persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the DeepL plugin again. This can help reset any configurations that may be causing the issue.

**Step 5:** If you continue to experience issues, please check for any error messages that may appear when you attempt to use the API key. This information can be crucial in diagnosing the problem further.

If you follow these steps and still encounter issues, please provide any error messages or additional details about the problem, and I would be happy to assist you further.
