Glossary Converter - SDL Studio 2024

Hi the community,

I am trying to convert a xls-termbase into a Multiterm database with the Glossary Converter app. I am using Trados Studio 2024.

I get the following message: "can't detect MultiTerm, using xdt/xml as termbase format".

Last week, it worked properly. Has someen faced the same problem and how did you solve it?

Thank you so much in advance!!

Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact version of the Glossary Converter app you are using and any recent changes made to your system or software that might have affected its functionality.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

Hello! It seems you're encountering an issue with the Glossary Converter app in Trados Studio 2024, where it fails to detect MultiTerm and defaults to using xdt/xml as the termbase format. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

**Step 1:** Verify that you have the latest version of the Glossary Converter app installed. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues.

**Step 2:** Check if MultiTerm is properly installed and functioning. You can do this by opening MultiTerm independently and ensuring that it operates without errors.

**Step 3:** Restart your computer. This can help clear any temporary issues that might be affecting the software.

**Step 4:** If the problem persists, try reinstalling the Glossary Converter app. Uninstall it first, then download and install the latest version from the RWS AppStore.

**Step 5:** If you have made any recent changes to your system or software, consider reverting those changes to see if it resolves the issue.

**Step 6:** As a workaround, you can also try using the MultiTerm Convert tool, which is specifically designed for converting termbases and may provide a more reliable solution.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, please provide additional details about the version of the Glossary Converter you are using and any recent changes to your system. This information can help in diagnosing the problem further.
