Actually it is a topic that has been addressed before on the forum in RWS APPStore.

This started happening because DeepL discontinued support for outdated authentication methods used by older versions of CAT tools and changed to new authentication methods.

The Trados AppStore Team implemented support for the new authentication methods from DeepL starting from Trados Studio 2022 (i.e. Trados Studio 2022, 2024). This is what to do, for Trados Studio 2022 and higher only:

Uninstall your current version of the DeepL Translation Provider under Add-Ins > RWS AppStore > Installed plug-ins

Make sure you have the latest version of Trados Studio installed - for Trados Studio 2022, this is version 17.2.12.19268; update Trados if you are not on the latest

Install the latest version of the DeepL Translation Provider under Add-Ins > RWS AppStore > Plug-ins

Re-enter your DeepL key and double-check:
No leading/trailing spaces
You’re using the correct key type for your DeepL plan.

Also, you might need to remove and add again DeepL to your project, since the authentication method changed.

Did you try removing DeepL from the project and adding it again? 

Since the API login system changed, that may make the engine that was previously added (before the update of the app and Trados) to malfunction.

This worked for other customers - perhaps this is what is happening in yours as well.

Thank you Anca. I have started a new "project" (just a short translation into English of a text to be translated by my students) and tried to add Deepl but after I put the key to activate Deepl as memory, I still get a greyed out OK button. Very weird. I do not know what to do. Do you think that uninstalling Trados and re-install it would help?

P.S. I use Parallels and wonder if that is a problem...

I am not sure, I am not familiar with Mac OS and Parallels.

Generally on Windows uninstalling Trados does not solve issues.

Can you share a screenshot of what you see of DeepL, the greyed out button and all?

You can also try this: remove the app manually as in Solution 2 in the article and then install it again from the AppStore in Trados.

Maybe something did not remove properly, but since I don't really know how Parallels and MacOS work and save these, I can only offer things we'd try on a Windows computer.

Again, thank you very much Anca. You are being very kind and efficient. I could not see the second solution in the article but it does not matter. This seems to be a lost cause which is incredibly annoying. However, I have noticed that, although I have Deepl as an installed plug-in, the window says that the number of installed plug-ins is 0 (zero). Weird! See attached screenshot. Also, I know that you are not sure if re-installing Trados 2022 would help but would like to try. Starting from scratch would be helpful, I guess. I really need to be able to use Deepl and can assure you that my subscription expires in April. What do you think? 

Paolo please uninstall the app! - you have it installed twice, this is why it is not working - please click either the delete symbol to uninstall them or Uninstall directly

And then install it fresh

Dear Anca, the screenshot you saw was the result of my numerous attempts to try and get Deepl to work. I can assure you that that was the only instance where there were 2 Deepl plug ins. In the previous instances there was only one plug in. The problem remains though. Could you point me to an article that tells me how to uninstall Trados and reinstall it. I would like to try starting from scratch as we seem to go round in a loop. Again, thank you and hope you can carry on helping.

Dear Paolo,

We generally advise a repair of Trados or reset of Trados, if the repair does not correct unusual behaviour.

The reset to default state returns Trados to default settings and solves a variety of such issues.

I suggest trying these first, here is how:
