How to use Web Lookup to search a webiste that requires a login (username/password)?

I love Web Lookup, great tool.

I would like to search a website that requires a login (username/password).

Is this possible with Web Lookup?

If  yes, what do I have to do, or where can I find the info on how to do it.

If no, are there any plans to implement such a feature in the (near) future?

Best regards

Siegfried

  • Hi Siegfried,

This one has come up before and I know the developer looked at this for someone else. The problem then was two-fold, the site required a login and the search phrase was not included in the URL so he could not test it. What he said then, however, was that in theory you should be able to log in once and then, by leaving the tab open, be able to look up terms like normal. But he has not tried it himself though, and neither have I. To add an automated login would be very difficult as there are no standard related to how a login page is set up. So it would probably be a case by case basis.

Having said this if you can share some credentials with the developer for a site where a login is required then he would be happy to test it? Drop me an email and we can take a look.
