Merging .sdlxliff files and saving them to target as one, merged file

Question

Hi, 
 I'd like to be able to merge .sdlxliff files and then to save them to target as one, merged file. Customers often send multiple, smaller files, and then a changes version in which they've combined these smaller files, together with changes, into one document. As the PerfectMatch batch task only runs against one previous version of a file, this makes it impractical to run the batch task many times over comparing the longer document against each individual smaller file. 
 The drawback of the Split/Merge App is that it only seems to be able to merge those files split by the program, whereas I'd like to be able to merge .sdlxliff files that I've prepared myself or have received from the customer. I also watched and walked through Paul Filkin's guide to saving the virtual merge file in Studio 2015 using the temp file that's created, and while this is undoubtedly a useful workaround, the merged .sdlxliff is still saved to target as the individual files. 
 Does anyone have a suggestion for another app or workaround that would allow me to merge .sdlxliff files and also to save them as such?

Hi Andrew, 
 If I did not understand your need wrong, you should be able merge .sdlxliff files during project creation like below. Just choose the files to be merged and then click merge files. Now that you have a merged .sdlxliff file you can use this as the previously translated file for perfect matching the new single source file. 
 To make myself more clear, this solution works in below scenario. 
 You receive 10 html files from the client, you translate and deliver them 
 You receive 1 html file which contains content from previously translated 10 html files. 
 You merge the previously translated 10 .sdlxliff files into one using the New project creation. 
 You create another new project with the new single html file as source and use the merged .sdlxliff file for perfect match. 
 Please provide more information if this does not help you.

 I think this is what he asked:

 So I read this question as this: 
 1. He receives multiple small source files that eventually make up one larger file 
 2. He wants Studio to combine all these separate small source files into one target file to save merging target files afterwards 
 So nothing to do with merging files for translation. At least that was my understanding of his question :-)

You can't merge ICMLs like that (well, you can, but you can't un-merge them). You have to add them to your project as individual files and in the Files view select any number of them and open that for translation/review/whatever. It's called "virtual merge". This way you will have individual ICMLs as target files.
