What is the recommended maximum number of characters in a publication FTITLE?

Question

What is the character limit for a publication title (FTITLE) that ensures that a publication output can be successfully generated? I assume that this could be variable depending on where InfoShare is installed on the Windows path, as well as where the DITA-OT resides, but wondering if there is some guideline nonetheless for maximum number of characters in a publication FTITLE.

A real maximum doesn't exist, most of the code now truncates the FTITLE if the maximum path depth of the file system or the (third party) systems we integrate with like Translation Management Systems don't allow more. This makes sure that the identifying =LogicalId=Version=Language=Resolution part survives, shortening the leading optional FTITLE part. 
 
A tip is to have the most important info in the first 30-40 characters, otherwise users also are continuously reading too much.
