Installing the Tridion Content Manager
Before you proceed to this step ensure you have received the Content Manager and Content Delivery license files (license.xml and cd_licenses.xml) from SDL Customer Support. Without valid licenses you will be unable to run the Content Manager software.

Running the Tridion Content Manager installer
Launch the SDL Tridion 2011 installer (under [Tridion_Install]\Content Manager)
If you have not manually installed the Microsoft .NET Framework 4, you will be prompted to accept the Microsoft License Agreement. Click on "Accept" to continue.
The .NET Framework 4 will now install. This step may take several minutes.
Installation will resume once the .NET Framework is installed.
Select which features to install. Typically you will install everything except the "SDL Tridion Audience Manager and Outbound Email 2011". You can also change the destination folder for the Tridion Content Manager and Content Manager Explorer (Web Site)
You will need to accept the license terms for any 3rd party pre-requisite that will be installed and configured by the Installer.
You must now provide the login information for the Tridion System account (MTSUser)
Enter the database connection details for the Content Manager database schema.
Enter now the information for the Tridion Logging database.
Enter the information related to the Tridion Content Manager Explorer website. Please note that you may receive an error message if the IIS default web site is currently active. If this is the case, launch IIS Manager (inetmgr) and stop or delete the default web site
Provide the location of both license files required by the SDL Tridion Content Manager.
Confirm the installation options and click Install to continue.
The installation process will take some minutes (approximately 10 to 20 minutes)
You will be notified when setup completes.
After the installation is complete you will need to restart your server.
You have now installed the Tridion Content Manager. See the next chapter for details on how to validate that the Content Manager is working as expected.
Next: Validate that all is working as expected
