Source or Version Control and file differences for XPP

Question

Hello folks, 
 I'm relatively new to XPP. For the XPP setup at my work, we use Exceed (Windows) to access XPP on Linux. I have two questions, and they're sort of interrelated. I was wondering what people use for source/version control for XPP, and is there a way to compare style files? I couldn&rsquo;t really find anything by searching these forums or Google. 
 I come from a C# .NET background. A common setup for .NET developers is to use DevOps with Git for source/version control. Among other things, it allows us to compare of two versions of a file and merge differences or apply changes from one to the other. Are such tools available with XPP? Are there any ways/tools to compare two style files (if, pl, ps or macros) and then to apply those differences from local styles to the global ones. Currently I only know to do this via the PathFinder UI by copying tables/rules one by one, and that can be tedious.

Strongly recommend you download XPP's full documentation from docs.rws.com. Open the search index file (search-xpp.pdx), then enter word or phrase you want to find. Took me a couple of seconds to find following: 
 Chapter 2 (pg 2-34 in 9.8 doc) of styles.pdf covers usage of the Job Tool diffstyle.pl. You can't apply differences between the specs, but you can at least identify what you might need/want to copy from one version to the other. You'd then run sdedit on each, selecting table(s) or rule(s) in one, then Save/Restore > Save and name the temp copy, then in the other sdedit window move to desired location and do Save/Restore > Restore and put same named tmp file and click OK.
