MSWord Grammar Checker

First, let me congratulate the author for having developed this app that fulfills a need that many users have had for quite a while.

So, I was very eager to test the app and did this right away. I installed it and I can see the corresponding options in QA Checker.

Unfortunately, I have not found out how one enables the grammar check to be carried out when doing a batch spellcheck (F7).

The options only contain one to enable "grammar check while typing" (I do not know how useful this could be as you need at least an entire sentence before being able to check the grammar).

I then assumed that the grammar check would always be carried together with the spellcheck when I hit F7, but my tests have been unsuccessful so far.

What am I missing here?

Hi,

did you try F8?

If I'm not mistaken it's written with verifier API.

Hi Patrik

You are right, it works when hitting F8.

This is counterintuitive because people expect grammar check to be integrated into the spellchecker.

Is this the only way to do it technically or is there also a "spellcheck API".

Would be interesting to have the developer's feedback on this.

at the moment yes - this is the only API giving you the required access to things.

Hi Walter,

We discussed this at length before the app was developed and for reasons on our side, and on what's exposed by Microsoft, this is the only way we could implement this with the public APIs.

Hi Paul, hi Patrik,

I agree with Walter that People would expect to the grammar check to work in the same way as the spell-check.

What I really like about the new grammar checker is the fact that errors are also reported via Verify Files batch task. It would be really helpful if spell checking errors are also listed in the verification report.

Then it would be easier for a project Manager to "control" whether a translator has really applied the spell-check (and grammar check).
